Genetically identical to Alec (X5R-494).
Ben was one of the twelve X5s who escaped in 2009. An imaginative member of the Gillette, Wyoming X5 group, he told stories to the other members of his unit and made shadow puppet shows on the wall to entertain Max (X5-452), who needed much less sleep than the others and was often bored at nighttime as a result. As a child Ben wanted to know the reasons behind everything, and his stories were his way of explaining the world. They also made his siblings feel safer than they were, and loved.
In 2009, Ben had a near-breakdown as a result of the execution of Jack (X5-417) and was subsequently discovered to have possession of a contraband religious icon of the Virgin Mary, around which he and the members of his group had created a belief system.
Their religion involved the extraction and sacrifice of their own teeth to the icon, whom they called the Blue Lady, in exchange for her protection against the nomlies, the name Ben gave to the X2s in the basement he had seen once with some other members of his unit.
After the '09 escape, Ben began suffering from pronounced psychosis, which manifested itself in a number of symbolic murders with religious undertones connected to the Blue Lady. These murders were fashioned after Manticore Seek-and-Destroy training exercises. Attempts by local police to catch Ben and charge him with these killings failed before the investigations began when the then-Director of Manticore, Lydecker, closed all investigations after each killing.
In total, Ben murdered nine people in Chicago, Miami, New York, and then two in Seattle, where he was finally located by both Manticore special ops and Max. Manticore moved in on him, wanting to bring him back to the facility for observation and testing; however, he convinced Max that he would rather die than live that life, and she killed him before he could be apprehended.
Or So Max thought.
Manticore just couldn't let him go. When they found him he was barely alive fading away and they took and repaired him. They sent him through Psy-ops for several months comparing him to his clone X5-494 and fixing what they could. For the most part Ben is fine, though he has his moments of breaking. He remembers he was the broken one and as much as he struggles to not break again it's hard.
Ben remains for his family and does what he can to protect them. That's his mission in life he has given himself.
Ben aka x5-493 is from the tv show Dark Angel. Now in the show he died my version was taken by Manticore and reprogrammed and reactivated. He is no longer the crazed psycho killer but is not as socially adept as his sibs. No one needs acknowledge him, he's an experiment in writing. He's open to rp. Dark Angel and Ben (X5-493) are property of James Cameron and Charles H. Eglee. His PB is Jensen Ackles and he as well does not belong to me.
